Improving enhanced VIN Spec data in Autotrader Connect

We’re pleased to announce we have added Hyundai to our Enhanced VIN spec data set, joining other leading brands such as Ford, BMW and many more.

Hyundai are the latest brand to enable VIN spec data for all our partners and retailers. Partners can now access VIN spec data for all Hyundai vehicles built from 2014 onwards in the Vehicles API.

Enhanced VIN Spec data captures all the optional specification items that were added to a vehicle when it was built. This ensures no added extras are missed and informs accurate vehicle descriptions and valuations. The data is recorded and maintained by each OEM and shared with us so we can make it available via Autotrader Connect.

Benefits to you and retailers

Auto populate specification

Increase stock record creation efficiency by using the factory fitted confirmation to auto populate optional vehicle specification features based on the VIN of the vehicle. As well as saving time this ensures accuracy to the initial OEM marketing description when the vehicle was built.  

Accurate Vehicle Descriptions

With 46% of adverts missing detailed specification, retailers could be missing out on margin due to inaccurate descriptions. Optional specification could be misrepresented or incorrectly assigned, meaning consumers could be seeing an inaccurate representation of the vehicle equipment.

Spec adjusted valuations

Power your platform with industry leading valuations, based on analysis of 52,000 vehicles advertised on our platform, on average we see £361 of unrealised margin per vehicle due to missed specification. Enhanced VIN spec data removes the guess work by adjusting the valuations based on the exact specification, helping retailers price vehicles accurately and with confidence.

Smarter sourcing for forecourts

Use enhanced VIN Spec data to accurately profile potential vehicles based on factory fitted optional specification meaning your retailers can source cars more intelligently, empowering them to make decisions based on the exact optional specification of a vehicle.

How to integrate

Enhanced VIN Spec data can be integrated as part of the Vehicles API and is available when requesting Valuations and performing a vehicle look up.
